Hilton Expands Ireland Footprint with New Hotel Signings

Hilton is expanding in Ireland with new hotels including the European debut of Home2 Suites in Dublin and a new DoubleTree near Dublin Airport (DUB).

Hilton announced an expansion of its Irish portfolio this week, including the debut of Home2 Suites in Europe and the first DoubleTree by Hilton in the Republic of Ireland.

DoubleTree by Hilton Ashbourne

A key part of this expansion is the conversion of a 156-room hotel in Ashbourne. The property is about 25 minutes from Dublin Airport (DUB). Hilton expects the hotel to open in early 2027 after a full refurbishment. This renovation includes new guest rooms and dining areas.

This location is a practical choice for travelers who want to stay near the capital but avoid the high prices and congestion of the city center. “Partnering with Hilton marks an exciting next step for the hotel,” said Richard Mc Dermott, proprietor of DoubleTree by Hilton Ashbourne. He said the partnership will help create local jobs and use Hilton’s global loyalty program to attract guests to the Dublin area.

Transit and Location Details: If you are traveling from Dublin Airport (DUB), the drive to Ashbourne takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes via the M50 and M2. If you prefer not to drive, you can use local bus services that connect Dublin to the Meath area, though a rental car or private shuttle is often faster for this specific route. Ashbourne serves as a central hub for those who want to explore both North Dublin and the Boyne Valley.

Quick Facts:

  • Room count: 156 rooms
  • Location: Ashbourne, County Meath
  • Expected opening: Early 2027
  • Status: Hotel conversion

Home2 Suites Dublin City Centre

For travelers who need more space, Hilton has already launched the Home2 Suites by Hilton Dublin City Centre. The property is a 290-suite hotel located near O’Connell Street. It offers an apartment-style alternative to traditional hotel rooms.

The brand is built for extended stays. This makes it a good option for digital nomads or families who need more than a standard desk and a bed. These suites work for both short trips and longer residencies. The layout is more functional than a standard Hilton or Conrad property. The hotel meets the demand for flexible, home-like accommodation in the heart of Dublin.

Tapestry Collection and Tempo in Northern Ireland

Hilton is also entering new territories in the UK and Ireland through its lifestyle brands. In Cork, the company signed the Cork City Centre, a Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotel. This 103-room hotel will open in 2027 on South Terrace. It will include standard rooms, extended-stay options, fitness facilities, and dining.

The Tapestry Collection is different from the more standardized Hilton or DoubleTree brands. These hotels have an independent feel. They allow each property to keep its unique local character and personality rather than following a rigid corporate template. This makes them a better fit for travelers who want a stay that feels connected to the local culture.

In Northern Ireland, the brand expansion is even broader. The Marcus Portrush, a Tapestry Collection property, has operated for a year. Hilton is also adding DoubleTree by Hilton Belfast City Ten Square and DoubleTree by Hilton Derry-Londonderry to its portfolio.

The Tempo by Hilton Belfast City Centre is also an important addition. This 144-room hotel will be the first Tempo property outside the United States. Tempo is a wellness-focused brand. It includes Tempo Wellness Rooms, which feature layouts designed for rest and physical activity. The hotel also has a partnership with Bluestone Lane. This partnership brings specialty coffee and healthy, fast-casual dining to the hotel guests.

Selecting the Right Hilton Brand for Your Irish Itinerary

Your choice depends on your travel style and your length of stay. If you fly in and out of Dublin and need a mid-tier option with reliable service, the DoubleTree in Ashbourne is a strong choice for 2027. If you stay in Dublin for a week or more, the Home2 Suites provides the necessary space. If you want a unique, character-driven stay in Cork or Belfast, the Tapestry or Tempo brands are better options.

From a loyalty perspective, these openings benefit Hilton Honors members. While Hilton Honors points have a lower value than Hyatt points (roughly 0.5–0.6 cents per point compared to Hyatt’s ~1.7 cents), the high number of properties makes them easier to use for a full Irish itinerary.

Unlike Marriott Bonvoy, which often caps the value of its free night certificates, Hilton Honors offers uncapped free night certificates through certain premium credit cards. If you have the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card, you can use those certificates for high-cost stays at lifestyle properties like the Tapestry Collection or the new Tempo in Belfast. You can also transfer Amex Membership Rewards to Hilton Honors at a 1:2 ratio. This is a simple way to increase your balance before a trip to Dublin. For longer stays, remember that Hilton Honors offers a fifth night free on award stays. This provides extra value when you use Home2 Suites for extended trips.
