Grand Hyatt Cancun to Launch Luxury All-Inclusive Resort

A new Grand Hyatt Cancun all-inclusive resort is opening this December. Learn about the luxury amenities and how to use World of Hyatt points.

Grand Hyatt Cancun to Launch Luxury All-Inclusive Resort

Hyatt Hotels Corp. announced that its Grand Hyatt Cancun Beach Resort will open as a fully all-inclusive property in December 2026.

A Strategic Expansion into the Luxury All-Inclusive Segment

This opening represents a strategic expansion for Hyatt into the luxury all-inclusive segment. While most Grand Hyatt properties operate on a room-only or room-and-breakfast basis, this location uses a fully all-inclusive framework. This shift responds to changing consumer demand for bundled travel experiences. It also addresses competitive pressure from luxury all-inclusive brands like Rosewood and Four Seasons that already operate in the Mexican Caribbean.

“We are thrilled to bring the Grand Hospitality spirit to an all-inclusive format in Cancun,” said Mark Hoplamazian, CEO of Hyatt Hotels Corp.

Hyatt’s entry into this market follows previous efforts to test all-inclusive models in Mexico. This new property aims to capture travelers who want high-end service without the need to manage individual meal costs during their stay. The resort is located near Cancun International Airport (CUN), which offers easy access for international travelers.

Amenities and the All-Inclusive Experience

The resort’s concept is inspired by the brand’s signature Spirit of Grand Hospitality. The property features specific high-end amenities, such as 12-course dining experiences and marine-life excursions.

Because this is a luxury-tier all-inclusive, the food and beverage quality differs from mid-scale all-inclusive resorts. Travelers can expect premium dining options as part of their stay. For families, it is helpful to check the resort’s Kids-Club schedule in advance. For travelers interested in specialized dining, check if the resort offers a “Meal-Plan Upgrade” to access premium restaurants that may fall outside the standard package.

Booking this resort with World of Hyatt points is an option for many travelers. Hyatt points have an average value of approximately 1.7 cents per point. This is higher than the 0.8 cents typically seen with Marriott Bonvoy points. When travelers book an all-inclusive property with points, the award rate covers the cost of meals and drinks.

A luxury resort in a prime location like Cancun will likely sit in Category 7 or 8 on the Hyatt award chart. This impacts how you book your stay:

  • Single-Night Awards: You can book a stay using only points. A Category 7 property typically requires 45,000 points per night.
  • Certificates and Points: You can use a Category 1-7 free night certificate. If the hotel is a Category 8, you must pay the difference in points.
  • Points + Cash: If you do not have enough points for a full award, you can use the “Points + Cash” option. For example, a stay might cost 40,000 points plus $200 cash.

Using points at an all-inclusive property can also affect the utility of Category Upgrade certificates. Because these properties often have high base categories, travelers should verify the specific category before committing a certificate.

Loyalty Comparison: Hyatt vs. Competitors

  • Marriott Bonvoy: Marriott has a much larger footprint in Mexico with over 8,000 properties, and they have piloted all-inclusive models. However, Hyatt points generally offer higher value per point.
  • IHG One Rewards: IHG offers all-inclusive options and an unlimited certificate top-off system. Hyatt does not allow travelers to add points to a certificate to cover a higher-category stay.
  • Transfer Partners: Hyatt travelers can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards at a 1:1 ratio, which is a distinct advantage for many high-end travelers.

How to Book

  1. Log into World of Hyatt or the Hyatt mobile app.
  2. Search for “Grand Hyatt Cancun Beach Resort” and filter by “All-Inclusive.”
  3. Check the property’s award category; if it is Category 7, confirm you have at least 45,000 points (or use a Category 6 certificate plus points).
  4. If you need more points, transfer Chase UR at a 1:1 ratio or purchase points during Hyatt’s periodic promotions.

Should You Use Points for the New Cancun All-Inclusive?

Whether to use points depends on your current point balance and the specific award redemption rate. For travelers with a surplus of Chase Ultimate Rewards or Hyatt points, this resort is a target for a high-end vacation. The decision relies on the mathematical value of the points compared to the cash price of the all-inclusive package. The move into Cancun allows Hyatt to compete for a specific segment of the luxury market that prioritizes ease of use and bundled costs.
