IHG Hotels & Resorts has been named the exclusive accommodation partner for the 2026 Rugby League World Cup. The partnership supports fans across Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea.
Participating IHG Brands and Tournament Locations
- Tournament Brands: InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Kimpton, Hotel Indigo, and Vignette.
- Tournament Locations: Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea.
Maximizing IHG One Rewards
Travelers can use IHG One Rewards to manage costs. You can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to IHG at a 1:1 ratio to build your balance before 2026. Unlike Hilton Honors or Marriott Bonvoy, which require a five-night stay to receive a free night, IHG One Rewards offers a fourth night free on award stays. If you plan a four-night trip, this saves money.
If you use an IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card, you can also use unlimited point top-offs on Free Night Certificates. This differs from Marriott, which caps top-offs at 25,000 points. This flexibility allows you to use certificates at luxury InterContinental or Kimpton properties.
Travel Logistics and Booking Tips
Travel between Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea requires early planning. Most travelers fly into major hubs like Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) or Auckland Airport (AKL). Hotel demand is high at these airports during major sporting events.
IHG has a larger footprint in these regions than Hyatt. You can choose midscale brands like Holiday Inn or Crowne Plaza for reliability. For more unique experiences, choose premium brands like Hotel Indigo or Vignette. Secure your lodging in advance to avoid price spikes in major cities.
