JetBlue Mint: New Fort Lauderdale to San Diego Service

JetBlue is launching new JetBlue Mint Fort Lauderdale San Diego service this November. Learn about new West Coast routes and bonus TrueBlue points.

JetBlue Mint: New Fort Lauderdale to San Diego Service

JetBlue is expanding its premium Mint service from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), adding daily flights to San Diego International Airport (SAN) starting November 19. This expansion aims to meet the rising demand for premium travel from the South Florida region.

Expanding West Coast Connectivity

The new service to SAN provides a daily premium option for South Florida travelers. JetBlue is also increasing its Mint service to the West Coast this winter. The airline will offer up to eight daily Mint flights between FLL and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). It will also provide up to three daily Mint flights to San Francisco International Airport (SFO). These additions create the largest Mint schedule the airline has ever offered from FLL. This growth strengthens the connection between South Florida and the West Coast during the winter travel season.

A Strategic Niche in Fort Lauderdale

JetBlue is using FLL to carve out a premium niche that differs from the Miami International Airport (MIA) market. While MIA remains the primary hub for major legacy carriers, JetBlue focuses on a specialized service at FLL. JetBlue continues to invest in FLL as a key gateway for travelers to Latin America and the Caribbean. By adding premium transcontinental routes, JetBlue offers an alternative to the traditional business class models found in Miami. This strategy targets travelers who want premium service without the congestion of the larger legacy hubs.

The Mint Experience and TrueBlue Loyalty

The Mint service offers fully lie-flat seats, curated dining, and high-end hospitality. “Customers in Fort Lauderdale continue to choose JetBlue for a better coast-to-coast experience, and these additions give them even more of what they value most: more flights, more premium options and the comfort of Mint on key West Coast routes,” said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of revenue, network and enterprise planning.

Travelers can use the TrueBlue loyalty program to maximize the value of these new routes. Mint bookings earn more TrueBlue points and help you reach higher status levels faster. Once you earn these points, you can use them to book these specific West Coast routes or to upgrade your seats on future flights. This access makes the premium service more affordable for frequent flyers.

Practical Booking Tips

If you plan to fly the new San Diego route, use a strategic booking approach. Mint seats are limited on each aircraft, so availability for the SAN service can change quickly. You should monitor seat maps for the San Diego route specifically to find the best options. For the best chance at securing a lie-flat seat, book your travel at least two months in advance. Regularly checking the JetBlue app can also help you spot new seat availability for these routes.
