New Canopy Hotel Deer Valley Opens Near Gondola

Hilton's new Canopy hotel Deer Valley is now open in Park City, Utah. Enjoy immediate gondola access, mountain-inspired design, and four dining concepts.

A New Era for Deer Valley’s East Village

Hilton’s Canopy brand opened its first Utah hotel, the Canopy Deer Valley, at the base of the Deer Valley Resort East Village expansion. This 180-room lifestyle property provides immediate access to the Jordanelle Express Gondola in Park City. “The opening of Canopy Deer Valley represents an exciting new chapter not only for our hotel, but for Deer Valley East Village as it continues to welcome visitors from around the world,” said Andrew Carey, general manager of Canopy Deer Valley. The expansion of the East Village includes new ski runs and retail stores. This development positions the hotel as a primary gateway for visitors to the resort area.

Design and Dining at the Property

The hotel interiors, designed by DLR Group | BraytonHughes, reference Park City’s mining history and the local mountain landscape. The property uses natural materials and industrial elements to create a sense of place. Guest rooms include custom furnishings, such as headboards that reference outdoor gear and rugs that look like ski tracks in snow. Large windows provide views of the Jordanelle Reservoir or the Deer Valley Resort slopes.

The culinary program is led by Executive Chef Scott Rackliff. Rackliff previously worked at high-end New York City establishments, including Eleven Madison Park and the Dinex Group. He creates elevated comfort food using ingredients from regional producers like Wasatch Meats and PaMaw’s Organic Farm. The hotel has four distinct dining concepts that welcome both hotel guests and the local community:

  • Tavolona: An Italian trattoria that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Fornetto: An energetic lounge that serves pizza, antipasti, and cocktails.
  • Mountain Provisions: A cafe and general store that offers grab-and-go items and coffee from Park City Coffee Roasters.
  • Alpine Attic: A rooftop lounge that provides views of the mountains and features drinks from High West Distillery and Alpine Distilling.

Hotel Amenities and Guest Experience

Lifestyle hotels like Canopy focus on guest touchpoints that bridge the gap between luxury and utility. The property offers several social spaces that invite both hotel guests and local residents to gather. These public areas are central to the hotel’s identity. The Alpine Attic rooftop lounge serves as a social hub where guests can relax with a view after a day on the slopes.

Inside the guest rooms, modern technology helps travelers manage their environment. Guests can control lighting and climate settings to suit their preferences. While the hotel emphasizes mountain access, it also provides the comforts of a modern lifestyle property. The proximity to the Jordanelle Express Gondola is a primary functional amenity. This allows skiers to move from the hotel to the mountain without long walks or transit delays.

Getting to Park City

Travelers can reach the hotel via Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC). The drive takes approximately 40 minutes via I-80. While many guests choose to drive, other transport options exist for those who want to avoid mountain driving.

Shuttle services, such as the Park City Shuttle, provide reliable transit for travelers who do not want to rent a car. There are also various private transfer services that move guests directly from the airport to the East Village. Because mountain weather can change quickly, travelers should allow extra time for transit during winter storms.

Traveler Tips and Seasonal Pricing

As a Hilton brand, the Canopy Deer Valley is part of the Hilton Honors program. This helps travelers who want to use points for expensive mountain stays. Hilton Honors points are worth approximately 0.5 to 0.6 cents each. You can earn these points in large amounts by using the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card or the Hilton Honors American Express Card. Another way to build a balance is to transfer Amex Membership Rewards points to Hilton Honors at a 1:2 ratio.

Hilton Honors members can also use a flexible payment slider to combine points and cash. This is a useful option when a full award stay is not available. Additionally, Hilton Honors offers a “5th night free” benefit on award stays. This effectively lowers the cost of a five-night trip. While Hyatt points have a higher individual value—roughly 1.7 cents—the Hilton portfolio is much larger. This makes it easier to find available properties globally.

Unlike Marriott, which often caps the value of free night certificates, Hilton Honors provides uncapped free night certificates through certain credit card programs. For the best rates, book your stay at least four to six months in advance. Prices rise during the winter ski season and peak summer months. Room rates start at $200 per night, but holiday periods will see higher pricing.
