Delta Adds Extra November Flights to Madrid and Munich

Delta is adding extra nonstop flights to Madrid and Munich this November for football fans. Check the new schedule and SkyMiles booking tips here.

Delta Air Lines adds four extra trans-Atlantic flights this November to support travelers heading to Madrid and Munich for professional football games.

New November Flight Schedules

Delta increases service from two U.S. hubs to accommodate demand for these international sporting events.

  • From Atlanta (ATL) to Madrid (MAD): Two nonstop flights depart on Nov. 4 and Nov. 5. Return flights operate on Nov. 9.
  • From Detroit (DTW) to Munich (MUC): Two nonstop flights depart on Nov. 11. Return flights operate on Nov. 16.
  • Aircraft and Cabins: All four flights use the Airbus A330. This aircraft features Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin. Delta One provides lie-flat seats for long-haul travel, while Delta Premium Select offers more legroom than the standard economy section.

Connecting Sports Fans and Hubs

Delta uses its existing sports partnerships to target this market. The carrier is the official airline of the Atlanta Falcons and the Detroit Lions. These new routes connect supporters in these cities directly to the games in Europe.

“There’s nothing like the energy of fans traveling across the Atlantic to rally behind their team, and we’re excited to help make those journeys unforgettable,” said Jeff Arinder, Vice President of International Network Planning.

Service Comparison

The use of the Airbus A330 provides a distinction from low-cost carriers that lack premium cabins like Delta One or Delta Premium Select. For travelers who want to arrive in Europe ready for a match, the availability of these higher-tier cabins is a key factor for travelers who seek more rest.

SkyMiles and Loyalty Tips

Delta uses dynamic award pricing for SkyMiles. This means the number of miles required for a seat changes based on real-time demand. Because these flights coincide with major sporting events, mile requirements are likely to be higher than usual.

Travelers can transfer American Express Membership Rewards to SkyMiles at a 1:1 ratio. This is an efficient way to book premium cabins. While Medallion status may help with upgrades, the base price in miles still reflects the high demand for these November dates. Delta is also a member of the SkyTeam alliance, which offers more connectivity through partner airlines.
